EEA/EU Spouse

You are considered a close Family menber of an EU citizen if, as the most common cases, you are the spouse or registered partner of an EU citizen; you are the dependent, unmarried, child (under 21) of an EU citizen; you are the dependent immediate relative (child, parent etc.) of an EU citizen’s spouse, or you are the parent, grandparent or another ancestor of an EU citizen, and are dependen ton the EU citizen for your basic needs.

There is a service charge of 16.90 Euro (inclusive of VAT) per visa application in addition to the visa, fee payable by all applicants and visa categories.

Please note:

  • The applicable Visa Fee in Euros (€) is as per the current exchange rate and is subject to change without notice.
  • The following categories of applicants are exempted of Visa fees:
  • Children under 6 years
  • Pupils, students and accompanying teachers during a school trip
  • Researchers travelling to perform scientific research
  • Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, Sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations.

BLS International Service charge

  • The Special Delivery facility for the return of processed applications is available at a fee of 29.99 Euro (Inclusive of VAT) per application. This is an optional service.
  • The SMS and email notification for the processing of the applications is available at a fee of 2.99 Euro (Inclusive of VAT) per application. This is an optional service.
  • The Visa fees can be paid by cash only. Cheque payments and direct bank transfers are not accepted.
  • All fees are non-refundable

Travel Insurance is mandatory for travelling to Spain. You may get your travel insurance from any authorized insurance company/agent or you may Click here if you wish to avail it now from Europ Assistance.

"Checklist"

Brexit - Please be informed that all applicant married to British national are not eligible for EU/EEA Spouse category and they need to apply for Tourist Visa category.

When an applicant wishes to travel to Spain and has 4EUFAM in the IRP/GNIB card, there are two options:

  • If the applicant is traveling with the spouse, there is no reason to initiate a Schengen visa application, there is no need of a visa.
  • If the applicant is not traveling with the spouse, they may apply for a Schengen tourist visa as per the check-list.

"Family members of a citizen of a European Union / European Economic Area country in possession of a valid residence card issued by any of those countries are exempt from the obligation of travelling to Spain with an entry visa. Furthermore, upon presentation of their residence card, their passports will not be stamped either on entry or on exit of Spain. Family members within the meaning of European law are, irrespective of nationality, the spouse and descendants of these persons dependent on them, as well as the dependent relatives in the ascending line of the person and their spouse.

  • Application form. Please ensure it is fully completed, signed in both required fields, and bring with you when attending for your appointment Please note that forms submitted from any other source will not be accepted.
  • Passport or Travel Document - Valid for at least three months after the date of expiry of the visa applied for with 2 blank pages.
  • 1 recent Photograph
  • Irish residence card and re-entry visa to Ireland - Valid for at least three months after the date of expiry of the visa applied for (original and copy).
  • Certificate of marriage (original and copy).
  • Spouse passport (original and copy).
  • Proof they are traveling together or joining the EU spouse.

Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements

Photo

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

  • Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Applications accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day at The Embassy of Spain in Dublin. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant can be further requested additional documentation in support of the same. Please note that the minimum processing time is between 3 and 4 weeks.

Applicants can apply for Visa between 6 months and up to 15 days before the planned travel.
Any application submitted with less than 15 days before the travel will not be accepted by the consulate
